Forest Avenue is a small neighborhood on mid-Mercer Island located on the west side of the island just west of W. Mercer Way. Forest Ave., Southeast runs north and south along the shoreline, parallel to W. Mercer Way and Island Crest Way. This waterfront neighborhood is one of the most highly desirable locations on Mercer Island and offers beautiful city skyline views stretching to Seward Park. There are two major areas in this neighborhood including Miller Landing and Forest Landing. Locals and guests can enjoy recreational waterfront activities, paddle boarding, swimming, boating, canoeing, and kayaking. There are two main streets called Forest Avenue, one to the north and one to the south, and the southern neighborhood is considered an extension of the main neighborhood stretching north and south along the shoreline.
Forest Avenue is accessible by a W. Mercer Way, turning west on Marrimount Drive and then north and south on Forest Avenue or a little further south off of 84th Ave., Southeast with a cul-de-sac, dead in Road ending at Miller Landing. Technically the boundary stretch from Forest Landing to Miller Landing with about 60 to 70 homes interspersed throughout the wooded shoreline.
Because these homes have some of the most beautiful Seattle skyline views on the island, property start at no less than $2 million. These are custom, luxury homes dating back all the way to the 1930s, however, most homes were built within the last 20 to 30 years. You might find a historic, charming 1930s tutor home with original hardware, stained-glass, and beautiful design or you might find a completely new construction modern and contemporary style featuring large glass windows to allow the most beautiful views to come streaming in.
There’s quite a variety of homes throughout the forest Avenue neighborhood with prices starting at about $2 million on up. The homes in this area do not come with a homeowner association fee unless it’s an extremely small development of fewer than five homes, something pretty rare in Forest Avenue. Lots are going to be a least a third of an acre if not larger and most homes on the west side of Forest Avenue will have waterfront access, docs, possible boathouses, slips, and access to waterfront activities.

The elementary school and high school are no more than about a half a mile away but the Islander middle school is 2 miles from most homes in Forest Avenue. Shops, restaurants, markets, and daily necessities are about 5 to 10 minutes from most homes in Forest Avenue.
