I don’t know about you but I am extremely ready for the Mercer Island farmers market to make its debut this year. Located at 7700 S. E. 32nd St. on Mercer Island, the Mercer Island farmers market kicks off on June 2. The events will run throughout the summer on Sundays from 10 AM to 3 PM. You’ll find delicious farm produce, prepared foods, baked goods, artisan items, cheeses, local berries, delicious meats, and lots of fun things.
The Mercer Island farmers market has been around for years and features over 2000 pounds of food afterward that’s donated to local organizations. There’s been over 70 vendor participants, nearly $700,000 in sales, and an average of about 2500 customers per Sunday. They have over 300 volunteers and the Mercer Island farmers market is a nonprofit organization governed by a Board of Directors. Their mission is “the Mercer Island farmers market connects growers, consumers, and the island business community to create a valuable, sustainable community asset.”.
Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are not allowed at the market except for service animals and it’s important to bring your papers every time you do. Nonservice animals on leashes can be walked on the sidewalk around the perimeter of the market.
Will there be music?
There’s always fun and festive music at the market including jazz, bluegrass, marimba, and more. There’s new music every week from 11 AM to 2 PM with unique bands such as the Yaamba Marimba Band, the Mercer Island High School Jazz Band, Jennifer Spector, and Silk Road Swing. Check out all of the music schedules for 2019 here
When does the market end?
The Mercer Island farmers market runs June through October plus a “Harvest Market” in November on the 24th. This unique harvest market features craft vendors with local and artisan items fresh from the harvest. Otherwise, it runs until September 29 every Sunday from 10 AM to 3 PM.
