Did you put your house on the market right before this virus broke out? Now you are thinking, what are we going to do? How are we supposed to sell our house now?
Well, one good thing is that people still need to buy and sell a house. For the same reason you need to sell, someone else needs to buy. It might be a little scary right now not knowing how you’ll even get buyers in the door, but trust me, people still need to buy and sell real estate during this time. So what can homeowners do and how can we protect ourselves during this COVID-19 outbreak?
Use social media.
This is a unique time and a situation no one has ever seen before. Not only are we experiencing a pandemic and crazy outbreak, but never in the history of the world have we had so much connectivity as well. We are online all day long whether it’s on our smartphones, at our work desks, or even just with devices like Echo and Alexa. We are connected and this can be used in your favor. Don’t forget to share your property listing daily. Ask friends and family to share it for you, and share it on different platforms. Shared on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or even on real estate blogging platforms if possible, or have your real estate agent do it for you. There are a lot of ways to get the word out that your house is on the market and that you need to sell.
Keep everyone safe and tell them you’re doing so.
Buyers might be fearful of coming into your house so inform everyone that you’re healthy, cleaning everything daily, and offer tips to keep them safe while browsing your property as well such as taking off their shoes, not touching their face or hard surfaces when touring the house, and verifying that everyone has left the home before buyers enter it. This keeps social distancing up to par and will make everyone feel a little bit more comfortable.
Keep it staged.
One of the hardest things to do for homeowners is to keep the property staged while it’s on the market, especially if you are quarantined at home and you have children. But, make it a game for everyone in the house that they have their own list of rooms and chores they are assigned to. Everyone has to pitch in and this means keeping things clean, organized, and staged.
Reevaluate the price.
Depending on how motivated you are and how quickly you have to sell, you may need to reduce the price for a faster closing. If you’re looking to get into your new home faster, you may need to either offer some incentives or lower the price. Talk to your real estate agent about the options so that you still feel comfortable selling for a lower price and can walk away with a profit.
