Ferncroft is actually a very small neighborhood on Mercer Island located on the east side, within the larger community of mid-Island and Library. It’s nestled along winding roads and residential communities on the east side just east of the Hollerbach open space. Roads included in the Ferncroft neighborhood Included Ferncroft Rd., East Mercer Way, Fern Brook Dr., Cedars East Road, and Cedar Cove Road and other smaller cul-de-sac roads along the shoreline. All of these homes are densely wooded lots and many have beautiful views of Newcastle and Newport Shores on the mainland. This neighborhood is accessible along E. Mercer Way which runs north and south up and down the island and Mercer would drive, which offers easy access to Interstate 90. This is only a residential neighborhood and shops, restaurants, and markets are about 10 minutes away.

Homes in the Ferncroft neighborhood start at about $1 million and can go up to $7 million depending on view, water access, water frontage, age, square footage, and lot size. All of these homes have been custom built and several are in very small homeowner associations. Dues may be as little as $20 per month for management purposes. Depending on the age of the home, association dues may be included in the price. Homes in the Ferncroft neighborhood are all over the board when it comes to age. Some were built back in the 1970s and some are being torn down and rebuild still today. Most are going to have three or four car garages, large layouts of over 3000 ft.², lots between a quarter of an acre and 1 acre, and those along the shoreline have waterfront access, docks, optional boat slip, and water access.

Schools

Residents of the Ferncroft neighborhood will utilize the Island Park elementary school, the Islander middle school, and the Mercer Island high school, all part of the Mercer Island school district.

There are no association facilities such as clubhouses, community swimming pools, or social calendars as these are primarily custom homes, however, many homes will offer their own amenities such as tennis courts, backyard swimming pools, outdoor entertaining kitchens, swimming buoys, and more. These homes are built on a terrace-style topography, meaning just about every home has some type of view of Lake Washington and Newcastle. Some even have beautiful views of Mount Rainier.
